Just watched the video Erica created on the spur of the moment of a Family Adventure Map for us. Not only was it well done, she gave us a few different ways to utilize it, and how to place a photo in the state/states our family just visited. Thank you Erica, you’re just plain awesome.

You’d want to do the knockout BEFORE the clipping mask with the photo and then it should work 🙂

Thank you so much for working this out. I know that translating the hack from Adobe Illustrator to Inkscape took a good bit of creative thinking on your part. And thank you so much for sharing it with us, and for all you do as an instructor. Luv Ya!

I am sad to report that as of August 27, 2021 this assignment of line types is no longer working in Design Space. Apparently Cricut messed with the software again with their latest update.
I thought I was making a mistake in how I was assigning the line type on a recent card I made. That wasn’t the case. I tried uploading files I made a while back. They did upload correctly a few months ago when I first uploaded them to Design Space.. Not so when I uploaded the same cards again today.
Hopefully Cricut will get the software working as it did in the past so this will start working in the future.-
Such a bummer!

Hi Erica, I’m new to your courses but I’m finding them really good, thank you. I have spent quite a long time trying to get this to work, thinking it was something I was doing wrong. This was a fantastic hack and I would have thought it was beneficial for Cricut to keep it working. Just a thought, can you put a note by the video to say it is currently not working? To save others from spending so much time trying to work out what they’re doing wrong 🙂 Thanks again Erica, Maria x

Will do – thanks for the note!

Thank you for sharing regarding Cricut software not working properly. I have been trying and retrying to get the line types to upload correctly from Inkscape to DS. I rewatched Erica’s lesson and double checked that I had the line types coded correctly in Inkscape. I do! But, still no success in DS. Now, at least I know why! Merry Christmas!

Try selecting just the heart and doing Path > Object to Path before the step where you put the text inside and see if that helps.

9.25×6.75″ is the limit for print and cut in DS. And keep in mind the letters can be cut on multiple pages or jumbled up if you are doing them on sticker paper or printable vinyl, etc.

Yeah I would just make the circumference dimension be where you want the stripe to be on the cup and then the height be the height of the stripe when you create the template with templatemaker.nl
