I am having problems with the scatter. I’ve changed by settings to mirror yours but, I get a message that Inkscape has received additional data from the script executed. The script did not return an error, but this may indicate the results will not be as expected.

Hmm the things I would check are… do you have the christmas light on the top layer? did you convert the path by going to Path > Object to Path before trying to add the light to it?
Yes. Closed and reopened the file. Deleted the circles — redrew just one circle. Selected Object to Path. Put the grouped light on the top. Selected Extensions>Generate from Path>Scatter. Get the message with I elect Live Preview. If I turn Live Preview off, I get the message when I select Apply. I am wondering if it is an issue with 92.4. I created a new project and got the same error message. Then went to .91 version and was able to do this without a problem. What version are you using?
